We were lucky to have a perfect summer day for our Fete this year – so many people thought the same and came along to enjoy a traditional village fete at its best! We raised over £5,500 for All Saints Church.
Proceedings were officially opened by Sir Robert Buckland who gave an uplifting and supportive short speech, which set the tone for the afternoon.
The BBQ did a brisk trade with excellent juicy burgers and sausages supplied by the Three Trees Farm shop, which were much commented on, and enjoyed. As it was the perfect day for enjoying a pint in the sunshine, many thanks should be extended to Adam and Alyx from the Village Inn for providing the mobile bar. In addition, refreshment could be found in the tea tent where a team of ladies were busy serving delicious home-made cakes and cream teas – thank you to all who helped and all who baked!
There were many entertaining things to do, particularly for children, with an inflatable obstacle course, bouncy castle and a whole marquee full of traditional fete games to be enjoyed.
The soundtrack to the afternoon was provided by the fantastic Old Friends duo and Fran Daisy, whose live music gave the perfect happy upbeat vibe to the afternoon.
The beautiful church of All Saints was open and many visited to explore the bell tower and admire the flower displays. Thanks also to the bellringers for providing welcoming and closing bells.
A great many people were involved in the organising and running of the fete, who worked before, during and after the fete – donating their time and energy as well as donating things for the raffle and tombolas. For this we are very grateful – thank you all!
Finally, a huge thank you to everyone who came and supported the Liddington Summer Fete! What a day! We hope you enjoyed it as much as we did! Next year’s fete is Saturday, 26 June 2027!
