Best Practices & Training
The Church of England requires all Church Officers to complete Safeguarding Training at the relevant level and, in certain cases, undergo a check through the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
All members of the Parochial Church Council (PCC) are DBS checked and are trained to the Foundation Level in safeguarding.
The Churchwardens and the Parish Safeguarding Officers are trained to Leadership Level in safeguarding and also undergo a course on Safer Recruitment.
All bell ringers and other Church Officers are trained to the basic level of safeguarding. The Tower Captain and ringing trainers are also DBS checked.
