Community Walk Marks Good Friday in Bishopstone
Residents and visitors came together on Good Friday for a reflective and meaningful Stations of the Cross walk in Bishopstone.

The walkers carried a wooden cross from the church, southwards up onto the ridgeline of the chalk downs where it was attached to a fence post. The group paused at measured intervals between St. Mary’s and the ridgeline to recall the events leading up to Jesus’ crucifixion. Brief readings from the crucifixion narrative were followed by a prayer and silence to reflect upon the stages of Jesus’ passion.

People of all ages took part, carrying Palm crosses and joining in the responses. It was a powerful way to reflect upon the events of Good Friday, deepening faith and a sense of community together. The panoramic views from the top are always special and tea and hot cross buns provide a good end to the walk.
